”’Delaware”’ is one of the smallest states in the USA. It is located in the Mid-Atlantic or Northeastern region. Convenient location, long history, and developed economy put it in one row with the largest ones.
South Delaware is considered as an agro-industrial area which supplies its products to the USA capital Washington, as well as to New York, Philadelphia, and Baltimore.
The capital of the state is Dover.

History
The first people visited the territory of the state arrived from Holland, England, and Sweden at the beginning of the 17th century. The Delaware tribe was fierce warriors, but initially, they peacefully coexisted with the whites. Indians willingly accepted gifts from white people and signed papers to donate their forests and fields. The Indians understood the situation and began to fight the whites when the colony of New Sweden appeared on their territory.
In 1681 New Sweden was finally liquidated, and its lands became part of several English colonies, including Delaware.
In 1767 the lands were divided and the famous “Mason-Dixon line” appeared. It is still part of the border today, separating the states of Maryland and Pennsylvania from Delaware.
By the time this border appeared, there were almost no Delaware Indians. All of them was exiled to Oklahoma and Canada, where they still live on a reservation in the province of Ontario.
During the American War of Independence (1775-83) residents of the state did not want to break the connection with England. Delaware had more independence from the metropolis than other British colonies in North America, and actively traded with Britain.
Nevertheless, it was the voice of Delaware who played a decisive role in the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.
Delaware adopted its first constitution, declared itself as a state, and the first governors received the title of President of the State of Delaware.
During the Civil War of 1861–65, the majority of the population of Delaware sided with the northerners, but there were also many who fought on the side of the Confederates.
Delaware very well earned on wars, producing gunpowder and weapons.
With the beginning of the crisis enterprises in the state became smaller, which pushed the state to develop the tourism sector.
Demographics
Around 910,000 people live in Delaware (forty-fifth among the USA states). The average population density in Delaware is about 469/sq mi.
There are only three counties in Delaware: New Castle in the north, Kent in the center and Sussex in the south. The largest city in the state is Wilmington, which has about 70,000 people. In the capital of Delaware, the city of Dover, lives about 40,000 residents, and the third largest population in the state is Newark, it has around 30,000 people.
